What they needed was time, real conversation and a bucket load of honesty. They were both still in love with each other. These two men got married on a whim, and Gates left cause he thought he was doing what was the best for Tallahassee. What everyone doesn’t know is that 9 years ago, they got married. Everyone at the shop is amazed that they are: 1. Tallahassee and Gates have been roommates for a while now. This is the second book in the Big Bull Mechanics series. The narration is wonderful and the book literally comes to life. I read this book first then was given the opportunity to listen to it. They were the best part of this book for me. Tim Paige and Liam DiCosimo did a wonderful job narrating the story and breathing life into the characters with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I am going to assume this book is just an anomaly, put it in the past, and keep reading the author and the series. Finally toward the end of the book I liked Gates better but not enough to make up for the first 3/4 of the book.

At some points in the book I was hoping Tallahassee would kick Gates to the curb and others I was just mad at Tallahassee for not standing up for himself. It was written like his issue was ADHD but the pranks and lack of dealing with that diagnosis (you cannot will yourself into changing a chemical imbalance) seemed to muddy what the issue really was. Gates was just too immature especially for a 40 year old man. I had trouble liking this story because I really did not like Gates and therefore the dynamic between the MCs did not work for me. Some of this back story happened in the first book in the series. It is the rekindling of Gates and Tallahassee’s best friend’s brother, second chance romance after an 8 year hiatus. I generally enjoy this author’s work but this book was just meh for me. Stroker is a best friend’s brother, secretly married, super steamy MM romance. Yup, just a couple of guys and their stroker rods.

No amount of fiddling under the hood will fix everything broken between us. We put our feelings behind us a long time ago, and there’s no way I’ll let Gates break my heart again. What kind of mechanic am I if I don’t get hands-on with his problem? When he tells me his Stroker Rod is broken…. I’m not sure if he’s hoping I’ll kick him out or kill him, but he won’t break me that easily.

He’s tie-dyed all my clothes, removed my bedroom door, and replaced my hand soap with lube. Nope, definitely not.īut Gates seems determined to get a rise out of me. I don’t lie awake at night wondering what could have been. Whatever happened between us nearly a decade ago is water under the bridge. When Gates shows up needing a place to crash, I offer him my spare room. Is there an easy way to tell your lifelong best friend that you secretly married his brother eight years ago? Asking for a friend….
